Overview

Aggregate Testing

Aggregates make up the bulk of most construction materials — base, sub-base, concrete and asphalt — so their quality directly drives performance and cost. Aggregate testing confirms that a source meets specification before you commit to it.

Letaba Lab runs the complete aggregate test suite: grading and fines, strength (ACV, 10% FACT), durability (Los Angeles abrasion), particle shape (flakiness) and cleanliness (sand equivalent).

We support quarry and borrow-source approval so you can qualify a new source, or verify an existing one, with accredited results engineers accept.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you approve a new quarry or borrow source?
Yes. We test aggregate from a new or existing source against the relevant specification and report on its suitability for construction use.
Which strength and durability tests do you offer?
Aggregate Crushing Value (ACV), 10% FACT, Los Angeles abrasion, flakiness index and sand equivalent, among the full aggregate suite.
Do you test aggregates for concrete?
Yes — including grading and quality testing to SANS 1083 for aggregates used in concrete.
How much sample do you need?
Sample size depends on the test suite. We will advise the required quantity and sampling method when we quote.
